A PET Rehoming PROJECT

PAWFEST II returns to the historic George Washington Masonic National Memorial on June 13, 2026, bringing together animal rescues, Military Working Dog (K9) demonstrations, community partners, vendors, and our Pet & Family Food Insecurity Drive. Join Wounded Paw Project® as we work to reduce shelter returns, support families and pets in need, and continue “HELPING ON BOTH ENDS OF THE LEASH.”

The origins of the Navy predate independence by almost a year. On 26 August 1775, the colony assembly of Rhode Island sent its delegates to the Continental Congress in Philadelphia to request that “a fleet of sufficient force for the protection of these colonies” be established. Although the Congress had already urged individual colonies to mount their own naval defenses, the Rhode Island Assembly understood that securing American ports and waters would be a bigger job than any colony could handle. The U.S. Navy’s official birthday is October 13, 1775, when the Continental Congress authorized the creation of the Continental Navy, marking the beginning of the nation’s naval tradition.

The United States Marine Corps was established on November 10, 1775, in Tun Tavern, Philadelphia.

Since that historic day, the Marines have played a pivotal role in shaping the course of American history.

From the shores of Tripoli to the sands of Iwo Jima, from the jungles of Vietnam to the deserts of the Middle East, the courage and sacrifice of the Marines have been instrumental in securing our nation’s freedoms.

The U.S. Army, founded on June 14, 1775-more than a year before the Declaration of Independence-as the Continental Army, is the oldest service branch in the U.S. military. It has played a vital role in the growth and development of the American nation.

Drawing on long-standing militia traditions and recently introduced professional standards, it won the new republic’s independence in an arduous eight-year struggle against Great Britain. At times, the Army provided the lone symbol of nationhood around which patriots rallied.

Wounded Paw Project® is offering participants FREE* space during this event to promote pet or veteran products, services, or initiative awareness. Participants must provide their own canopies, tents, tables, chairs, etc.

This pet re-adoption project and festival will be promoted on Wounded Paw Project®’s website and social media sites. We also ask all participants to help promote this event through their networking channels, including using #pawfest in your social posts..
