Cocoa
Cocoa is a 3 year old brown, male neutered pitbull. He is the sweetest cuddle bug who loves to sleep in bed, under the covers at night. Cocoa is a ball of energy who needs many walks or someone to throw a ball for him. Cocoa is an amazing walker/heeler on the leash. Cocoa has been abused by other dogs and humans in his first home, which has caused him to be fearful of dogs he doesn’t know, but he did get along with the two female dogs that stayed with us for the first year of Cocoa being here.
Unfortunately he and my other male dog do not get along. My dad has given me an ultimatum to rehome him or put him down due to the fear that my toddler will get hurt in the fight between the two dogs. My nephews were both recently attacked by a random dog at the park in Utah so he is more vigilant now.
My other dog is deaf and extremely attached to me and my daughter and he resource guards Cocoa. Cocoa is on trazodone and GABA to deal with anxiety. Cocoa is crate trained when we are around, but he does destroy the crate if left alone. He also will chew up things around the house if bored or left alone. Cocoa also jumps when excited.
Cocoa’s first home was in South Side San Antonio. The owners would keep him chained to the porch on a thick metal chain. Stray dogs would come attack him while chained up. He was infested with fleas when we got him causing his hair to fall out. When thunderstorms would happen, his owners put him on the porch in a crate. He would cry and they would come beat him in the crate for crying. I learned all of this from the woman who rescued him… their neighbor.
I contacted many many recuses, FB groups, ranches, family, friends, etc. with no luck. You are our last hope. Our next option is to put him down. Cocoa is a pitbull and can appear very scary to others.
