Malnourished Dog

Condition:

• Underweight – can see spine, hips and ribs – will see if I can get her weighed today
• Seems to have possibly had multiple litters of pups
• Skin looks good – no visible sores, rash or injuries, some tiny scars
• Coat is soft – no noticeable hair loss, no fleas, two ticks removed
• Eyes, ears, gums, look healthy.  Some tartar on teeth.
• No acute distress – eating well, small meals during the day – chicken, rice, some kibble, bananas
• GI – some diarrhea, no vomiting
• Unsure of any underlying illness, has not yet been examined by vet
• Pretty strong girl, considering!  Has energy to take long walks and pull on leash.
• Very sweet and affectionate temperament so far, is very clingy and wants to be with someone at all times
• Has socialized well with adults, but has not been around children or other pets while with us
• Does not know a crate, toys, chews, how to play, or any simple commands
• Does walk off leash beside me, returns with a call
